The big Cataclysm Dungeon Difficulty Debate

Wrath babies is a term I keep hearing in trade chat. It describes those player who started playing during WotLK and implies that they don't know how to play because the content in WotLK was too easy. To an extent there is some truth in this because for some odd reason Bliz discarded the need to use crowd control in Wrath. But I don't think this just a CC issue. Mainly its the changes made to healing and some far more complex mechanics that are catching people out.Swiftness and people normally just log on and queue for a dungeon so if someone suggests doing a guild Heroic you have to leave the queue and re queue with whatever number of people you manage to get together.

So why not just put a few heroic runs in the guild calendar?

Well we have a quite strict guild raiding roster for 3 days of the week. Assuming people actually have a life to live and don't play much at weekends that leaves 2 days a week where we have nothing in the calender. It would be a bit much to ask having every single weekday as a guild event. People want to be free to do things in their own time and not have deadlines every day.

So I mostly PUG. I hate it but I still need the Valor points. Well hate is a strong word I guess. Sometimes they go well and its a great feeling when you do the 1st pull and your new PUG mates seem to know what they are doing. But more often than not you know within the fist couple of pulls that this group of misfits aren't going to complete the dudgeon. It only takes one to bail and the whole edifice collapses like a house of cards. Usually the culprit is the healer but to be honest I don't blame them. I have healed quite a few heroics in cata and my heart sinks when some idiot tank tears into the 1st load of trash without marking or sorting out a priority kill list.

Sure you may have great gear mate but what makes you assume your healer is geared enough to counter-act your stupidity? The truth is he doesn't really care. See a tank will spend a few minutes in the dungeon queue. Its easier for him to zerg and fail until he finds a group who are good enough to zerg with him. He might get half a dozen failed pugs 1st but on average he will get his daily heroic quicker than all us DPS grunts who have to wait 30 mins after every wipe plus the dungeon deserter time. One thing you will rarely see is the tank bailing. He will just wait till everyone else does so he can go right back into the queue and be ruining someone else's day in 2 minutes flat.

So whats the solution?

Easy KICK YOUR TANK! If the tank shows no consideration for the rest of the group kick him. You will spend a few mins finding another tank and not 45 mins waiting for dungeon deserter to wear off and get to the front of yet another queue.

Eventually bad tanks may realise that they are not getting their dailies quite so easily because they keep getting their arse kicked out of every dungeon they enter.

So yes cata heroics are hard but that's a good thing right? I mean zurging the heroics at the end of Wrath was boring! Some of them you could quite easily 2 man. There was no challenge....Well yes that may be true but there's a difference between a challenging encounter and hours of teeth grindingly frustrating wipes with fail pug after fail pug.

But why not do them in your guild?

Because its very rarely you have 5 people of the right spec online at the same time in a small guild like
